The question is: Do you mean sqrt%28x-5%29=7 or sqrt%28x%29+-+5+=+7?

1. sqrt%28x-5%29=7

Square both sides:

x-5=49

x=54

2. sqrt%28x%29+-+5+=+7

Add 5 to both sides:

sqrt%28x%29=+12

Square both sides:

x=144
