give the discriminant and use it to determine the number and type of solutions of the equation
3x^2 = 4x-5
3x^2-4x+5 = 0
Discriminant: 4^2-4*3*5 = 16-60 = -44
----------------------
Since the discriminant is negative there are two unequal complex solutions.
