SOLUTION: general right angle trig: if cos(theta) = 2/5, find the value of tan(theta)
i did pythagoren theroy
a^2 + b^2 = c^2
2^2 + b^2 = 5^2
4 + b^2 = 25
b^2 = square root

Question 105649: general right angle trig: if cos(theta) = 2/5, find the value of tan(theta)
i did pythagoren theroy
a^2 + b^2 = c^2
2^2 + b^2 = 5^2
4 + b^2 = 25
b^2 = square root of 21
how do you simplify the square root of 21? like what is it simplified?
Answer by edjones(8007) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
you did the hard part.
Get a syentific calculator that does square roots, trig, exponents, logs etc. they are relatively inexpensive.
sqrt(21)=4.58258...
tan=2/4.58258...=.436436...
