Multiply numerator and denominator by (2+sqrt(2)) to get::

= 6(2+sqrt(2))/(2^2- (sqrt(2))^2)
--------
= 6(2+sqrt(2))/(4-2)

= 3(2+sqrt(2))
---------
= 6 + 3sqrt(2)
