5x+12-3x=-2x-13-x now tranfer all the x terms to the left side of the equation & all the numbers to the right side thus:
5x-3x+2x+x=-13-12 now combine like terms thus:
5x=-25 now divide both sides by 5
x=-5 answer.
proof
5*-5+12-3*-5=-2*-5-13-(-5)
-25+12+15=10-13+5
2=2
