Two thirds times x plus four equals three fifths times x minus two?
x + 4 = x - 2
Get rid of those annoying fractions, mult by 15, resulting in
10x + 60 = 9x - 30
10x - 9x = -3 - 60
x = -90; looks like the book is right

(-90) + 4 = (-90) - 2
-60 + 4 = -54 - 2
