Answer by stanbon(75887)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
2(2x+5)-5 = 2x+7
Use the distributive law to get:
4x+10-5=2x+7
Simplify the left side to get:
4x+5=2x+7
Subtract 2x from both sides and 2 from both sides to get:
2x=2
Divide both sides by 2 to get:
x=1

Your son should take notes in class.
Solve for x:
Apply the disributive property to the left side by multiplying the inside of the parentheses by 2.
Simplify the left side.
Subtract 2x from both sides of the equation.
Add 15 to both sides.
Finally, divide both sides by 2.
