(-9 1/2)/(3 1/6) now changing each mixed fraction to an improper fraction we get (-19/2)/(19/6) now changing the divide operation to a multiply(*) and inverting the denominator we get -19/2*6/19 cancelling out the 19 from the numerator & the denominator we get -1/2*6/1 or -3
