1.If you ate a pizza and a half in a day and a half. How many pizzas would you eat in a 7 day week?
This is a propportion problem. WE get

cross multiply to get

divide to get
x = 7.
So, in 7 days you eat 7 pizzas.

2.There are 30 legs in my backyard, but i'm counting dogs and kids. How many kids and dogs are in my backyard?
dogs have 4 legs and kids have 2 legs so we can say
4D + 2K = 30.
Since we have no other information, like the number of heads, we have several options:
K = 1, D = 7
K = 3, D = 6
K = 5, D = 5
K = 7, D = 4
K = 9, D = 3
K = 11, D = 2
K = 13, D = 1
K = 15, D = 0
