Question 244162: How do you work the problem 2(x+3)^2-4=24
Answer by checkley77(12844)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
2(x+3)^2-4=24
2(X^2+6X+9)-4-24=0
2X^2+12X+18-28=0
2X^2+12X-10=0
2(X^2+6X-5)=0

X=(-6+-SQRT[6^2-4*1*-5])/2*1
X=(-6+-SQRT[36+20])/2
X=(-6+-SQRT56)/2
X=(-6+-7.48)/2
X=(-6+7.48)/2
X=1.48/2
X=.74 ANS.
X=(-6-7.48)/2
X=-13/48/2
X=-6.74 ANS.
