Question 164758: I need you to show me how to do the work on this problem, so I can help my niece with the remainder of her homework. There is no example. So I would be using this as an example.
The problem reads:
x/2 + 1 + 3x/4 = -9

Answer by Mathtut(3670)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
x/2 + 1 + 3x/4 = -9 first you would subtract -1 from both sides leaving x/2 +3x/4= -10 now multipy each term by 4 to get rid of your denominators 4(x/2) + 4 (3x/4) = -40 which when you simplify leaves you 2x + 3x = -40. Simplifying further by combining the x terms we have 5x = -40. Dividing both sides by 5 gives you x = -8
answer x = -8
