You want to get alone on the left side and
what it is equal to on the right side.
------------------------------
First, subtract from both sides
( if you do something to one side, you must do the same
thing to the other side )
---------------------

------------------------
Divide both sides by

Now check the answer by plugging it back into

Answer by josgarithmetic(39617)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
You want to isolate x and have all computable numbers on the other side. The same thing done on one side of the equation must be done to the other side of the equation.

Look at the expression on the left side of the equality symbol.
What are the things done to x, IN ORDER, starting at x?

*2, +13.
In words, multiplied by 2, addition of 13.

Now, to solve the equation for x, do THE REVERSE of what was done to x; and do to both sides to maintain equality. To reverse what was done to x,
ADD NEGATIVE 13 to both sides;
MULTIPLY BY to both sides.
