Question 981996: . Genber will evaluate an 8th degree polynomial in x at x = 10 using the Remainder Theorem and synthetic division. How many coefficients of x will be written in the first row of the synthetic division procedure?

Eight of them. You must account for every power of x just as you would account for every power of 10 in standard long division for whole numbers or decimal numbers. If you do not account for the zero and nonzero coefficients, this is like disregarding place-value when doing normal long division.
