[-2+(-8)]+[+(-1)]= -10-1 = -11
I belong to the camp that uses minus signs for subtraction.
To me, plus signs confuse the issue.
This is minus 2 minus 8 minus 1 or minus 11.
I would write it (-2-8)-(1)
