Question 979019: If the first two terms of a geometric sequence are 2 and 1, respectively, which term of the sequence is equal to 1/16?

In a Geometric Sequence each term is found by multiplying the previous term by a constant.
In general we write a Geometric Sequence like this:
{ , , , , ... }
where:
is the first term, and
is the factor between the terms (called the "common ratio")
so, if first term is and second term is , a constant (the "common ratio") is
and your sequence looks like this:
{ , , , , ,,... }
so, we can find out which term is using the rule
to calculate any term:
(We use "n-1" because is for the 1st term)
=> ......so, it is term
check:
{ , , , , ,,,... }
{ , , , , ,,,... }
