This is a geometric series ... 1 x 8 = 8 ... 8 x 8 = 64 ... and so forth
Sum = a(1 - r^n)/(1 - r) where: r is the rate, a is the first term, and n is the number of terms
Sum = (1 - 8^5)/(1 - 8) = -32,767/-7 = 4,681
