Question 857893: Find the sum of the first 10 terms of the following sequence.
−24, −12, −6, ...
The numbers go down by multiplication of 1/2. When I tried working this out, I got -14181/128 and it is telling me it is wrong.

Let's do it longhand to make certain:
-24 * .5 = -12
-12 * .5 = -6
-6 * .5 = -3
-3 * .5 = -1.5
-1.5 * .5 = -.075
-.075 * .5 = -.0375
-.0375 *.5 = -.01875
-.01875 * .5 = -.009375
-.009375 * .5 = -.0046875
-.0046875 * 5 = -.00234375
Adding the -24 through the -.0046875 equals 46.8853125
.
Your answer is which reduces to -110.789025
Not sure how you got that, but you can see that when your first number is 24, it would be difficult to end up with 110.
