Question 828037: (I'm an adult) need help with missing number patterns please:
4,7,3,x,2,5
3,5,x,6,1,7
4,5,x,7,2,9
10,x,9,4,8,5
X,5,3,6,2,7
And
18,26,x,23,26

My guess is that the patterns were created by weaving together two patterns, such as combining
A,B,C,D,E with 1,2,3,4,5 to get A,1,B,2,C,3,D,4,E,5

Combining 4,3,2 with 7,6,5 that way would give you
4,7,3,6,2,5, which could be the answer for 4,7,3,x,2,5.

Combining 3,2,1 with 5,6,7 that way would give you
3,5,2,6,1,7, which could be the answer for 3,5,x,6,1,7.

Combining 4,3,2 with 5,7,9 that way would give you
4,5,3,7,2,9, which could be the answer for 4,5,x,7,2,9.

Combining 10,9,8 with 3,4,5 that way would give you
10,3,9,4,8,5, which could be the answer for 10,x,9,4,8,5.

Combining 4,3,2 with 5,6,7 that way would give you
4,5,3,6,2,7, which could be the answer for x,5,3,6,2,7.

Combining the same way 18,22,26 (each number is 4 more than the one before)
with 26,23 (eac number is 3 more than the one before) would give you
18,26,22,23,26, which could be the answer for 18,26,x,23,26.

Guessing what was in the twisted mind of the person creating a question is tricky business.
I consider myself an excellent guesser, but I may be wrong.
