Question 472552: What is formula for the nth term of the infinite sequence? For these you cannot use a recursion formula. 1, 1/4, 1/9, 1/16, 1/25
A) an = 1/3n-2
B) an = (1/2)n-1
C) an = 1/n^2
D) an = 1/n^n-1
I tried to work it out and i came up with C but i really feel like I messed up. Can someone please try to explain this to me for future reference?

this is a sequence, not a series ___ as the problem states, there is no formula

you need to be able to recognize the PATTERN of the sequence ___ which you were able to do

for a multiple choice question, if you don't see the pattern; you can test all the answers

there is no derivation ___ its like solving a puzzle
