3x2+16x+20
I start out this way:
(3x + ? )(x + ? )
I ask myself what factors of 20 will give me the 16x term in the middle?
I don't want the 3x to be multiplied by something large - that will make
middle term too big.
I'll try 2 and 10 for factors of 20, and I'll arrange them so the 3x gets multiplied by the 2.
(3x + 10)(x + 2)
Now the outer times inner multiplications give me 10x + 6x = 16x
