Question 291693: What are the next two terms of the sequence 32, -48, 72, -108, . . . ?
Answer by College Student(505) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Solution: 156, -216
Analizing problem:
Imagine for a second all numbers are positive...
The difference between 32 and 48 is 12.
The difference between 48 and 72 is 24.
The difference between 72 and 108 is 36.
Every time you go from one number to another, two things are happening:
1- The number increases by 12 more units than the previous addition.
2- The signs alternate from negative to positive.
So, 36+12=48 ...and... 48+12=60
Therefore, 108+48=156 ...and... 156+60=216
Remember the second calculation needs to be a negative, so the correct answers are 156 and -216.
