Question 204849: If a call costs .99 the first min and .25 each additional min what is the equation for finding the cost of a call? I put y = .99 + .25x, but that was the wrong answer the correct answer is y = .74 + .25x. What equation do you use to get this answer?

By subtracting .25 from .99 then you can just multiply the total minutes by .25, add the .74 for the correct answer. If you use .99 you will be overcharging by .25. If you use .99 in your equation, then you need the addition of -.25 to correct the total cost.
