this is a direct proportion problem

this means when one variable increases then so does the other and vice versa
:
you will notice that the value increased from 110 to 150 so the tax has to increase too

cross multiply
:
8.5(150)=(110)x
:
110x=1275

8.50/110=tax/150
(8.5*150)/110 = tax
Solce for tax
tax = 11.59
