the sum of two numbers having a ratio of 1 to 3 is 32. if x equals the smaller number, the larger one would equal?
----------
1:3 is the same as x:3x where x is the smaller and 3x is the larger number.
----------------
EQUATION:
x+3x = 32
4x = 32
x = 8 (smaller number)
3x = 24 (larger number)
