The use of "^" in the statement of the problem is not appropriate -- I have no idea what it might mean.

It helps to use parentheses to enclose the term numbers in a sequence -- e.g., "t(1)" instead of "t1".

My best guess is that the statement of the problem is supposed to be like this:

t(1)=-3. t(n)=4-2t(n-1). find t(4).

If that is how the problem is supposed to read, then re-post, telling us what it is about the problem you need help with.

Of course, if the statement of the problem is supposed to be something different, then re-post the problem clearly.
