find the reciprocals of the numbers involved.
find the average of those reciprocals.
take the reciprocal of that.
that's your harmonic mean.

their reciprocals are 2 and 20.
the average of those reciprocals is 22/2 = 11
the reciprocal of that is 1/11.
that's your harmonic mean.
it's decimal equivalent is .090909091 when rounded to 9 decimal points.
the harmonic mean of x and y is as shown below.
the reciprocal of x and y is 1/x and 1/y.
the sum of 1/x and 1/y is 1/x + 1/y.
1/x * y/y = y/xy.

their average is (x + y) / xy * 1/2 = (x + y) / 2xy.
