After inserting 7 arithmetic means between 2 and 26, you will have (7+1) = 8 gaps of the equal size between 2 and 26.


Hence, each gap is of   =  = 3 units wide.


So, the common difference of the arithmetic progression is 3 and the first term is 2.


Hence, the progression, with 7 inserted arithmetic means, is 


    2, 5, 8, 11, 14, 17, 20, 23, 26.
