If n is the smallest of the three consecutive even integers, the condition gives you this equation


2n + 3*(n+2) + (n+4) = 34.


2n  + 3n + 6 + n + 4 = 34


6n = 24


n = 4.


Answer.  The ages are 4, 6 and 8 years.
