each member of this series is the sum of the digits of n^3
:
a10 = sum of the digits of 10^3 = 1
:
Note that 10^3 = 1000 and the sum of its digits is 1

Note that 2 is the 11th term and the sequence begins at 0
:
3(n+1) gives 6, 9, 12, 15 for n = 1, 2, 3, 4
