SOLUTION: 7,16,8,27,9,? my question is whats the next number ? my thinking was it increases by 10-1 then up 20-1 so the answer should be up 30-1 would be 38 but that's not an option.. Help

This type of problem is worthless. An argument can be made for more than one next number.
7,16,8,27,9,?

The odd # elements are 7, 8 & 9
The even are 16 & 27. A difference of 11 --> 38 for #3.
#1 is 4^2, #2 is 3^3 --> 2^4 for #3 = 16
---
#1 is 2^4, #2 is 3^3 --> 2^4 for #3 = also 16

#1 is 16^1, #2 is 3^3 --> (-10)^5 = -100,000
