Hi there,
Make base = 'x'
So, Leg = 6 + 2x
Perimeter = 2(Leg) + base
42 = 2(6 + 2x) + x
42 = 12 + 4x + x
Collect like terms:
4x + x = 42 - 12
5x = 30
x = 6
Base = 6cm
Leg = 18cm
