Answer by macston(5194)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
P=perimeter=260ft; W=width; L=length=2W-20
P=2(L+W) Substitute for L
260ft=2(2W-20+W)
260 ft=2(3W-20ft)
260ft=6W-40ft Add 40ft to each side.
300ft=6W Divide each side by 6.
50ft=W ANSWER 1: The width is 50 feet.
L=2W-20ft=2(50ft)-20ft=100ft-20ft=80ft ANSWER 2: The length is 80 feet.
CHECK
P=2(L+W)
260ft=2(80ft+50ft)
260ft=2(130ft)
260ft=260ft
