A page, with length 3 cm longer than its width has 80 square cm. of printed area. The margins at the top and bottom are each 3/2 cm and the side margins are each 1 cm. Find the dimensions of the page.
let width be x
A page, with length 3 cm longer than its width
length = x+3

Margin at top and bottom = 1.5 & 1.5 =3
so length of the page = x+3-3=x cm
margin along width = 1 cm
width of page = x-1-1=x-2 cm
width of printed area = x(x-2) =80
x^2-2x-80=0
x^2-10x+8x-80=0
x(x-10)+8(x-10)=0
(x-10)(x+8)=0
x= 10 OR -8
width of page = 10 cm
length = 13 cm

has 80 square cm. of printed area. The margins at the top and bottom are each 3/2 cm and the side margins are each 1 cm. Find the dimensions of the page.
