Are you asking to find the area given 2 sides? I'll assume so.
30" wide by 4 yards long
convert yards to inches
4 yards = 12 feet = 144"
Area = length * width
Area = 30" * 144" = 4320 square inches
Convert square inches to square feet by dividing by 144.
4320 square inches = 30 square feet

40cm wide by 2 meters long
2 meters = 200 cm
40 cm * 200 cm = 8000 square cm
Convert cm^2 to m^2 by moving the decimal 4 places
8000 cm^2 = .8 m^2
