Question 892589: The length of a certain rectangle is 3 meters more than twice its width. If the perimeter of the rectangle is 90 meters, then the width of the rectangle is
Answer by Jynald-(6)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
let w be the width
and 3 + w be the length
2l + 2w = Perimeter
2(3+w) + 2w = 90
6 + 2w + 2w = 90
4w = 90 - 6
4w = 84
4w/4 = 84/4
w = 21
solve for length
3 + w
3 + 21 = 24

checking:
2(24) + 2(21) = 90
48 + 42 = 90
90 = 90
