Question 886141: A garden is 135 sq. meter dimension but sorrounded by 1 meter block what is the dimension of a garden?
Answer by JulietG(1812) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
The garden can be any dimensions whose product equals 135.
Area = length * width.
135 = a * b
Let's use only whole numbers. What are the factors of 135?
1, 135
3, 45
5, 27
9, 15
.
If the dimensions of the garden are 9 * 15, it's area is 135 sq m
If there is a 1m block around it (a path, perhaps?), the area including the block would then be 10 * 16 (add a meter to each length), or 160 sq m.
.
