Question 873290: I am having a difficult time trying to figure out this equation:
A rectangle has a width of 4 and a length of 5. What number can be added to the widths and lengths so that the resulting perimeter is 5 times the original perimeter?

Hi,

P = 2L + 2w

8 + 2x + 10 + 2x = 130
4x = 112
x = 28 need to add to both the original L and w
CHECKING our answer***
2(4+28) + 2(5+28) = 64 + 66 = 130
