The perimeter of a pool is 64 feet and has a width of x and a length of x-4. Write an equation and find both the width and length of the pool.
-----
P = 2(length + width)
----
64 = 2(x + x-4)
32 = 2x-4
-----
2x = 36
x = 18 ft (width)
---
x-4 = 14 ft (length)

Hi,

width of x and a length of x-4.
P = 2l + 2w = 64ft 0r l + w = 32ft
(x+4) + x = 32ft
2x = 28ft
x = 14ft, the width. The length is 18ft
