Question 833303: the perimeter of a rectangle is 32cm. the difference between the length and the width is 4 cm. find the width
Answer by JulietG(1812) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Perimeter = 2 length + 2 width
P = 32
L = W+4
Now plug in the numbers:
32 = 2L + 2W
Substitute the value of L
32 = 2(W+4) + 2W
32 = 2W + 8 + 2W
Subtract 8 from each side
24 = 4W
Divide each side by 4
6 = W
If the width is 6, the length is W+4, or 10
