Question 826906: Draw a rectangle with an area of 25 square inches. What could be the dimensions of the rectangle if both the length and width are mixed numbers?
Answer by LinnW(1048)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
set l = length
w = width
l*w = 25
solve for w
divide each side by l
l*w/l = 25/l
w = 25/l
notice (l)(25/l) = 25
so any value of l * ( 25/l ) = 25
If we want to insure that we only have
dimensions that are mixed, we need
to insure that 25/l is greater than 1.
In addition, we need to make sure that
l is not irrational.
Finally l cannot = 5.
