Question 790904: The lenghth of a rectangle is 3.5 cm longer than its width. The perimeter of the rectangle is 31 cm. Find the length and width of the rectangle
Answer by waynest(281) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
length = w + 3.5
width = w
Perimeter = 31
P = 2w + 2L
31 = 2w + 2(w + 3.5)
31 = 2w + 2w + 7
31 - 7 = 4w + 7 - 7
24 = 4w
24/4 = 4w/4
6 = w
check:
31 = 2(6) + 2(6 + 3.5)
31 = 12 + 2 ( 9.5)
31 = 12 + 19
31 = 31
