Question 787244: the perimeter of a rectangular garden is 38ft the length is 3ft more than the width whats the length and width of the garden?
Answer by waynest(281) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
let l = w + 3
P = 2l + 2w
38 = 2(w+3) + 2w
38 = 2w + 6 + 2w
38 = 4w + 6
38 - 6 = 4w
32 = 4w
32/4 = 4w/4
8 = w
check:
38 = 2(8 + 3) + 2(8)
38 = 2(11) + 16
38 = 22 + 16
38 = 38
