Question 787123: A rectangle is 7 meters longer than it is wide. If the perimeter of the rectangle is 50 meters, find its area.
Answer by Cromlix(4381) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Width = x
Length = x + 7
Perimeter = 2*width + 2*length
50 = 2(x) + 2(x + 7)
50 = 2x + 2x + 14
Collect like terms
4x = 50 - 14
4x = 36
x = 9
Width = 9 metres
Length = 16 metres.
Hope this helps.
