Question 787093: the perimeter of a playing field is 488 the legnth of the field is 6 yards less than quadruple the width. what are the dimensions of the field
Answer by Cromlix(4381) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Width = x
Length = 4x - 6
Perimeter = 2*width + 2*length
488 = 2(x) + 2(4x - 6)
488 = 2x + 8x - 12
Collect like terms
10x = 488 + 12
10x = 500
x = 50
Width = 50 yards
Length = 194 yards.
Hope this helps.
