Let the width of the rectangle be 'w'cm.
Therefore the length of the rectangle is '6w'cm.
The perimeter of the rectangle is given by the formula 2(length + width) ----(1)
The area of the rectangle is given by the formula (length * width) ----------(2)
The perimeter of the rectangle is given as 98cm.
Putting the values of length, width and perimeter in equation 1 we get
2(6w + w) = 98
or 2(7w) = 98
or 14w = 98
or w = 98/14 = 7
So the width of the rectangle is 7cm.
So the length of the rectangle is 6w = 6*7 = 42cm.
Therefore the area of the rectangle is (length * width) = 42 * 7 = 294sq.cm.
