Question 766432: a secretary at the police department makes $8 less per hour than the dispatcher. the combined hourly wage of the security and dispatcher is $40. which equation could be used to find the hourly wage of the dispatcher?
Answer by Cromlix(4381) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Dispatcher receives $x
Secretary receives x - $8
x + (x - $8) = $40
Remove brackets
x + x - $8 = $40
2x = $40 + $8
2x = $48
x = $24
Hourly wage of dispatcher = $24
Hope this helps.
