Question 763533: The length of a rectangular rug is 4 feet more than the width. The area of the rug is numerically 1 more than the perimeter. find the dimension
Answer by ramkikk66(644)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Let Width be W
Length L = W + 4
Perimeter = 2(W + W + 4) = 4*W + 8
Area = W*(W+4) = W^2 + 4*W
Area = Perimeter + 1 (numerically)

Cancelling out the 4*W on both sides

W = +3 or -3
Taking the positive value
Width = and Length =
