Question 750311: IF THE LENGTH OF THE RECTANGE IS INCREASED BY 25% AND WIDTH IS DECREASED BY 25%, WHAT IS THE PERCENTAGE OF CHANGE IN ITS AREA
Answer by ankor@dixie-net.com(22740) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
IF THE LENGTH OF THE Rectangle IS INCREASED BY 25% AND WIDTH IS DECREASED BY 25%,
WHAT IS THE PERCENTAGE OF CHANGE IN ITS AREA
Assuming 1 as the original length & width, then original area = 1 and new:
L = 1.25
W = .75
A = 1.25 * .75 = .9375 new area
therefore
1 - .9375 = .0625 * 100 = 6.25% reduction in area
