let x be the width of the rectangle. The length is four times the width so the length is 4x.
Now, Area = length multiplied by width so
196 = 4x * x this is
dividing by 4 gives
to 'undo' the 'squared' we have to find the square root
so x=
therefore x = 7
Now we find the perimeter of the rectangle
If x = 7 (the width) then 4x = 28 (the length)
Perimeter of a rectangle is
2(length+width) giving
2(28+7) = 2(35) = 70
The perimeter is 70 feet
