Question 662301: the length of a rectangle is 3 times its width. If the area of the rectangle is 243 (feet squared) what is the perimeter?
Answer by ReadingBoosters(3246) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
l=3w
a=243
Use area to determine l and w
a=lw
243 = w(3w)
243 = 3w^2
Dividie both by 3
81 = w^2
sqrt 81 = sqrt w^2
9 = w
width = 9ft
length = 3(9)=27ft
p=2(l+w)
p=2(9+27)
p=2(36) = 72ft
